Corona Virus – President’s Update

Dear Marist Families It has been an interesting start to the 2020 season with the training and match start dates having been suspended due to the Corona Virus outbreak. All matches have been postponed until at least 31 May by the WAFC and the Newman Sports Association has suspended any training taking place at their facility until State Sporting Associations have approved the commencement of activities. Kowal the Kicking King

The Club is delighted to have secured the services of one of the best kicking coaches in Australia in Darren Kowal to help our girls teams improve their skills in the lead up to the season. Darren Kicking for Girls begins next Monday the 16th March at 3.30pm - 4.45pm at Newman - Lower or Upper depending on what is available due to NAS. He will be holding kicking session for girls every Monday from 16 March to 13 April, giving girls a great opportunity to improve the most important skills in the game. The Marist Football Club is excited to have formed a partnership with Subiaco physiotherapist Jeremy Ingram. Jeremy is an experienced post-graduate Physiotherapist & Exercise Physiologist specialising in the prevention and management of sports injuries. He has extensive experience in designing exercise programs to optimise athletic performance and reduce injury risk for elite and amateur footy players. He has previously worked as head Strength & Conditioning coach for Claremont Football Club and as part of the medical department at West Coast Eagles. GPA Residential Sign On

The Marist FC is excited to announce that that GPA Residential has signed on as a club sponsor for the 2020 season. Higher Duties on the Cards for Angus

Marist super-coach Matt Angus capped off a successful 2019 by being appointed Claremont Colts coach for the 2020 season. The appointment will cease Angus' coaching capacity at Marist which includes stints in 1993 -1996, 1999-2002 and 2018-2019 "To be able to come back to Marist- a club I grew up with- and win two flags in two years was awesome." The Marist Football Club is on the verge of some significant growth in its female sector as the club plans to go from three female standalone teams in 2019 to five in 2020. in 2020 the Club will be fielding year 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 sides meaning they will require another 50 odd female players to sign up for the club in the coming months.
